Leon William Haynes, age 72, of Martinsville, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born in Henry County January 25, 1940, he was a son of the late Ralph Camden Haynes and Gracie Morrison Haynes. Leon was a graduate of Ferrum College and VCU, a former member of the Collinsville Jaycees, and he was a member of First United Methodist Church, Martinsville.

He was an independent Managing General Agent with Transamerica Life Insurance Company for forty-five years, and was a Life Member of the Million Dollar Roundtable, and NAIFA....

Surviving is his daughter Cindy Haynes Miller and her husband Jeff, of Ellicott City, MD, two sons, Eric Haynes and his wife Renee, of Virginia Beach, Justin Haynes and his wife Cherisa, of Hampton, his brother, Arthur Haynes of Stanleytown, his fiancée Patsy Wyatt of Ringgold, special niece Heather Byrd of Stanleytown, and six grandchildren, Alex and Kevin Miller, Scott, Todd, Zoe and Asha Haynes.

The funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, June 4, 2012, at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett, with the Rev. Ron Mateer officiating. Interment will follow in Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery, Woolwine.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Collins Funeral Home and at other times at his home.
